The finest work from past and present members of The Camera Club

Opens 1 November at Gallery 1885

Queen Marie of Romania by Betram Park (1916)

In celebration of the anniversary of the Camera Club this November, a carefully selected range of work is being brought together to summarise the Club’s 125 year history.

Archival works made by some of most prolific members in our history, as well as those lesser known, will be put on display alongside preeminent output from the more recent membership. This exhibition aims to explore ideas, which have been realised in each field of photography throughout the decades; and to create discussion between the works both past and present.

Most apparent whist curating this collective body of work, has been the wide and varied subject range, which photography can embrace. Some of the subjects covered in this unique arrangement will include: alternative process, pictorialism and camera-less photography; also landscape, portraiture and ethnography.

The exhibition will begin on the 1st of November, however it will culminate into a full celebratory event on the Sunday 14th November. Very special guest speaker Hope Kingsley, a Curator from the Wilson Centre for Photography, one of the largest private collections of photography today, will be joining us on this day.

This should be a fascinating insight into our beginnings and look forward to you joining us to examine this very special collection and share your own views.
